IAP - ID Academic Activities 2006 The IAP-ID has the following programmes during the course of the year :
"Mid Year Teaching Programme (usually a Workshop) Those members desirous of organizing and hosting the Mid Year Teaching Programme 2006 or the 8 th IAP-ID Annual CME 2006 should send their concrete proposals with the theme of the meeting to the Secretary & Treasurer, Dr. Francisco Couto. For the Annual Meeting 2006 (held along with the IAPM Conference), those desirous of being Moderators for the Symposium or Slide Seminar should send in their names along with the proposed title of the Symposium and Slide Seminar to the Secretary & Treasurer, IAP-ID. Also as per the decision of the General Body of the IAP-ID certain topics have been suggested as possible subjects for the Slide Seminar and Symposium. The topics suggested to be covered for the Slide Seminar are Prostate Pathology, Endoscopic Non Neoplastic Gastointestinal lesions, Salivary Gland tumours and Melanotic lesions of Skin. For the Symposium topics suggested are Paediatric tumours, Embryonal tumours, Frozen Section and Pathology of Aging. Members desirous of being Moderators for any of these topics should send their names to the Secretary & Treasurer, IAP-ID. However, as per the decision of the Council and General Body of the IAP-ID, the person selected as the moderator shall be the one who is felt to be best suited to be for the particular topic of the Symposium or Slide Seminar. All proposals should reach the Secretary & Treasurer, IAP-ID, by October 15 th, 2005, so as the same proposals could be discussed and approved by the Council and General Body of the IAP-ID. IAP-ID MID YEAR TEACHING PROGRAMME 2005 The Mid Year Teaching Programme of the IAP-ID will be a "Workshop on Molecular Pathology" to be held on the 17 th April 2005 at the Army Hospital (Research & Referral), Delhi. The Organising Secretary for the Programme is Col. Gurvinder S. Chopra.

IAP-ID 7th ANNUAL CME 2004
The IAP-ID 7 th Annual CME 2004 was held on the 26 th September 2004 at the Sree Achutha Menon Centre Auditorium, Trivandrum, Kerala, and was very ably organized by Dr. S. Sankar, the Organising Secretary. The theme of the CME was "Update on Histological Grading of Neoplasms". The meeting was attended by 224 delegates from all over India. The topic was extensively and comprehensively covered by the faculty consisting of eminent pathologists who included Dr. M. Balaraman Nair, Dr. Anita Borges, Dr. V. V. Radhakrishnan, Dr. Rekha Nair, Dr. R. Narasimhan, Dr. K. R. Harilal, Dr. K. P. Aravindan, Dr. Nalini Venugopal and Dr. Joy Augustine. The topics covered were "Approach to grading of Neoplasms", "Skin & Soft tissue tumours", "Gliomas", "Lymphomas", "Breast tumours", "Ovarian & Endometrial tumours", "Renal tumours", "Urothelial & Prostatic tumours", a Panel discussion and a Slide Quiz. A proceedings booklet was also given to the delegates. The delegates found the CME very useful. The IAP-ID was represented by the President, Dr. Anita Borges, and the Secretary & Treasurer, Dr. Francisco Couto. On behalf of the IAP-ID, Dr. Francisco Couto thanked Dr. S. Sankar and his team for organizing the excellent CME. XXV International Congress of the IAP
The XXV Congress of the International Academy of Pathology was held in Brisbane, Australia, from 10 th to 15 th October 2004. Seventeen delegates from various parts of India attended the Congress and took active part in various activities of the Congress. Dr. K. R. Harilal, Dr. Roshini Chinoy, Dr. D. N. Lanjewar, Dr. Nirmala Jambhekar and Dr. Rama Gopalan were faculty for various scientific sessions of the Congress whereas Dr. Anita Borges, Dr. Francisco Couto, Dr. K. R. Harilal, Rear Admiral P. Sivadas and Dr. Roshini Chinoy chaired various scientific sessions. Many of the delegates from India presented scientific papers and posters. Dr. Anita Borges and Dr. Francisco Couto, the official Councillors appointed by the International Academy of Pathology (IAP) for the Indian Division of the IAP attended the Council Meeting of the IAP held at Brisbane, Australia, on 10 th October 2004. Dr. Anita Borges and Dr. F. Couto highlighted the various difficulties faced by members of the Indian Division in attending international meetings of the IAP specially the high cost involved and suggested various measures such as reduced delegate fees, etc. Dr. K. R. Harilal, in his capacity as a Vice President ( Asia ) of the International Academy of Pathology attended the Executive and Council meetings of the IAP and presented a report on the activities of various Divisions of the IAP of the Asian region with special reference to the Indian Division. Dr. Francisco Couto, having been appointed by the International Academy of Pathology ( IAP ) as a member of the prestigious Education Committee of the IAP attended the meeting of this Committee and put forth proposals for financial assistance for academic activities and publications of the Indian Division and also suggested measures to enhance the academic activities of the IAP and make it more relevant to various countries specially of Asia and Africa. Dr. F. Couto also interacted officially with the Secretaries of various Divisions of the IAP. Dr. Anita Borges (President IAP-ID), Dr. Francisco Couto (Secretary & Treasurer IAP-ID) and Dr. K. R. Harilal (Vice President Asia of IAP) attended a meeting of the Asia and Pacific Divisions of the IAP where various measures to increase co-operation between the various IAP Divisions of these regions was discussed including the preparation of a members directory of various Divisions, regional meetings, etc. At an informal session on one of the evenings of the Congress, arranged with the purpose of facilitating interaction between the members of various Divisions of the IAP, the Indian Division of the IAP was one of the few select Divisions of the IAP provided with an information counter (manned by the Secretary & Treasurer IAP-ID, Dr. F. Couto) so as delegates from other parts of the world interested in the Indian Division and its activities could interact and obtain the necessary information. CD on "Neuromuscular Disorders" A CD with the proceedings and discussion of the IAP-ID Symposium on "Neuromuscular Disorders", moderated by Dr. C. Sundaram, is available for a fee of Rs. 200 paid by Demand Draft in favour of "Secretary / Treasurer, IAP - Indian Division" payable at "Panaji (Goa)".
