IAP - ID Academic Activities 2006 The IAP-ID has the following programmes during the course of the year :
"Mid Year Teaching Programme (usually a Workshop) Those members desirous of organizing and hosting the Mid Year Teaching Programme 2006 or the 8 th IAP-ID Annual CME 2006 should send their concrete proposals with the theme of the meeting to the Secretary & Treasurer, Dr. Francisco Couto. For the Annual Meeting 2006 (held along with the IAPM Conference), those desirous of being Moderators for the Symposium or Slide Seminar should send in their names along with the proposed title of the Symposium and Slide Seminar to the Secretary & Treasurer, IAP-ID. Also as per the decision of the General Body of the IAP-ID certain topics have been suggested as possible subjects for the Slide Seminar and Symposium. The topics suggested to be covered for the Slide Seminar are Prostate Pathology, Endoscopic Non Neoplastic Gastointestinal lesions, Salivary Gland tumours and Melanotic lesions of Skin. For the Symposium topics suggested are Paediatric tumours, Embryonal tumours, Frozen Section and Pathology of Aging. Members desirous of being Moderators for any of these topics should send their names to the Secretary & Treasurer, IAP-ID. However, as per the decision of the Council and General Body of the IAP-ID, the person selected as the moderator shall be the one who is felt to be best suited to be for the particular topic of the Symposium or Slide Seminar. All proposals should reach the Secretary & Treasurer, IAP-ID, by October 15 th, 2005, so as the same proposals could be discussed and approved by the Council and General Body of the IAP-ID. CD on "Neuromuscular Disorders" A CD with the proceedings and discussion of the IAP-ID Symposium on "Neuromuscular Disorders", moderated by Dr. C. Sundaram, is available for a fee of Rs. 200 paid by Demand Draft in favour of "Secretary / Treasurer, IAP - Indian Division" payable at "Panaji (Goa)".
For further details contact: IAP-ID 8th Annual CME 2005 The IAP-ID 8th Annual CME will be held on the 12th and 13th August 2005 at the St. Johns Medical College, Bangalore, on the topic Current Perspectives on Tumour & Tumour like lesions of the Bone. Eminent Pathologists from India and abroad are the faculty for the CME and include Dr. Krishnan K. Unni, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA, and Dr. Franco Bertoni, Rizzoli, Italy. The CME brochures have already been mailed to all the IAP-ID members by the Organizers.

XXVI Congress of International Academy of Pathology IAP-ID MID YEAR TEACHING PROGRAMME 2005, New Delhi
This year the Mid Year Teaching Programme of the IAP-ID was a Workshop on Molecular Pathology held on 17th April 2004 at the Department of Pathology & Molecular Medicine, Army Hospital (Research & Referral), New Delhi. The Organizing Secretary was Col. Gurvinder S. Chopra, Senior Advisor (Pathology & Immunology) and Professor & Head of Department. The Workshop was well attended with 120 delegates from all parts of the country participating in the proceedings. Delegates were highly appreciative of the programme which was extremely well organized and conducted. To begin with there was a brief Inauguration function the Chief Guest being Lt. Gen. J. R. Bhardwaj, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services and the President IAP-ID. The function was graced by Maj. Gen. L. P. Sadhotra, Commandant, Army Hospital (R & R); Dr. Anita Borges, Immediate Past President IAP-ID; Dr. Francisco Couto, Secretary & Treasurer IAP-ID; and, Col. Gurvinder S. Chopra, Organizing Secretary. The meeting had a very distinguished faculty consisting of Dr. Harsh Mohan (Chandigarh), Dr. Roshni F. Chinoy (Mumbai), Dr. Kusum Joshi (Chandigarh), Dr. Anita Borges (Mumbai) who took wonderful lectures on Role of Molecular Biology in Surgical Pathology, Molecular Pathology of Nephrotic Syndrome, Molecular Pathology and Immunohistochemistry of Breast Tumours and Molecular Pathology in Head and Neck Cancers. The faculty also included Col. Gurvinder S. Chopra, Lt. Col. Vibha Dutta, Lt. Col. D. K. Mishra and Lt. Col. Kavita Sahai from the Army Hospital (R & R), who made presentations on various techniques to be covered in the Workshop. Various techniques were demonstrated to the delegates like FISH (especially for chromosomal aberrations in tumours and also Breast tumours like Erb1 & Erb2), Real time PCR, Flow Cytometry, Sequencer, etc. All the techniques were very well demonstrated by the faculty from Army Hospital (R & R) in the very top class laboratory boasting state of the art and cutting edge equipment. The delegates thus not only got to see the various techniques demonstrated but were also sensitized to the latest type of equipment and techniques available. The sessions were interactive and ample opportunity was provided for the delegates to clear their doubts and share their experiences. A CD of the proceedings and a Proceedings Booklet were also given to the delegates. Dr. Francisco Couto, Secretary & Treasurer IAP-ID, was highly appreciative of the excellent Workshop which was extremely well organized and conducted. On behalf of the IAP-ID, Dr. Francisco Couto, expressed the gratitude and thanks of the IAP-ID to Col. Gurvinder S. Chopra and his team for organizing and conducting the excellent Programme.
