The IAP-ID congratulates and welcomes Dr. C. Sundaram (Hyderabad) and Dr. Sujay Prasad (Bangalore), the new Council Members, who were elected at the Annual Meeting held at the University Auditorium, Indore, on 30th November 2005. For the benefit of the members their brief biodata is given below:

Dr. C. SUNDARAM

Born in 1955, Dr. Challa Sundaram is currently the Professor & Head of the Department of Pathology, Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad. She has 22 years of teaching experience having stated her career as an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad, in 1983. She subsequently joined her present Institution in 1986 and after occupying various positions such as Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor became the Head of Department in 2004.

Besides her professional qualifications of M.B;B.S, M.D (Pathology) and MAMS Dr. Sundaram has also undergone training in Neuropathology at the Southern General Hospital, United Kingdom in 1987 and training in Nerve Pathology in Department of Neuropathology & Applied Biology, Bombay Hospital, Bombay in 1993.

A distinguished student both in her school, college and Medical Education Dr. C. Sundaram has a number of awards to her credit amongst others the Raj Kishore Bhatia Gold Medal for the Best outgoing Lady student of Andhra Medical College (1978), Jayanti Subhadradevi Prize for securing highest marks in MBBS amongst Lady students, Andhra University (1978) and President's Silver Medal for securing highest marks among Lady students (1978). She has also been awarded the Distinguished Leadership Award (1998) by the American Biographical Institute, USA and the Vaidya Siromani Award (2003) by Megacity Navakala Vedika, Hyderabad.

A much admired and sought after teacher Dr. C. Sundaram has participated as Guest Faculty in numerous CMEs, Slide Seminars, and Symposia besides attending and taking active part in a large number of such scientific meetings. She has been a co-author is a number of papers which have won awards in various Conferences and other scientific fora. An avid researcher Dr. C. Sundaram's research interests include Neuropathology and the Musculo Skeletal system. She has contributed chapters in text books and also in various CME Proceedings. Dr. Sundaram has more than 102 publications in international and national Journals, 4 abstracts and 46 articles in in-house publications. She has presented 9 papers at international Conferences, 52 papers at national Conferences and 52 papers at state Conferences besides delivering more than 60 guest lectures.

Dr. Sundaram has been Assistant Editor, Indian Journal of Pathology & Microbiology (1987 - 1990); Member Editorial Board: The clinical proceedings of NIMS (1992); Member Editorial Board: Neurology India; Member Editorial Board, Indian Journal of Pathologists & Microbiologists; Member on panel of Reviewers: Journal of Indian Medical Association; and, Editor: Clinical Proceedings of NIMS (2000-2001).

Dr. C. Sundaram has been an Executive Member - AP Neurosciences Association (1998-2000); Secretary- IAPM - AP State Chapter (1998-2001); Organizing Secretary - South Zone Conference, IAPM (1999); and, President - IAPM - A.P. State Chapter (2003 - 2005). She is a member of a number of professional bodies like the International Academy of Pathology - Indian Division (IAP-ID); Life member of Indian Association of Pathologists & Microbiologists (IAPM), Neurological Society of India, Indian Academy of Neurology, Indian Academy of Neurosciences; Founder Fellow of Indian College of Pathologists (ICP); member of National Academy of Medical Sciences, and, Andhra Pradesh Academy of Medical Sciences.

Dr. SUJAY PRASAD

Dr. Sujay Prasad, was born in 1966, and is currently a Consultant Pathologist at Anand Diagnostic Laboratory, Bangalore, one of the leading laboratories in Asia. Dr Sujay has been working at the Anand Diagnostic Laboratory since 1995 and has vast experience in Laboratory Medicine including Hematology, Histopathology, Clinical and Chemical Pathology.

A brilliant student Dr. Sujay Prasad's professional qualifications include MBBS, DPB, MD (Pathology) and DNB (Pathology). Dr. Sujay Prasad is very active academically and has a large numbers of publications and scientific presentations to his credit. He has also organized many CMEs, Workshops and Conferences in Pathology and is the Organizing Secretary for the APCON 2006 Conference (which includes the IAP-ID Annual Meeting and the IAPM National Conference) to be held in Bangalore in December 2006.

Dr. Sujay Prasad is an acknowledged expert in Telepathology and Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Laboratories and has contributed much to these areas of Pathology practice. Besides being a member of the International Academy of Pathology - Indian Division (IAP-ID), Dr. Sujay Prasad is also a Life Member of the Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists (IAPM) and Indian Academy of Cytologists (IAC). He is currently the Secretary of Karnataka Chapter Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists. He is also the Convener of the Inter Laboratory Quality Assurance, Bangalore
